The fourth edition of ART.PE, Pernambuco's Contemporary Art Fair, already has a date: it will take place from 8 to 12 October at the Recife Expo Center. The announcement was made last month, according to information from Folha de Pernambuco, and comes alongside the launch of the exhibition "Solos", which previews some of the works that will be present at the fair. The free show, open to the public, runs from 5 to 8 June at Shopping Recife.
What to expect from the 2025 edition
In 2025, ART.PE promises to bring together 40 galleries and four museums, consolidating itself as one of the main platforms for fostering the contemporary art market in the Northeast. The programme includes not only exhibitions but also debates, training initiatives and incentives to collecting, as well as activities related to design, urban art and gastronomy.
Solos, a preview of what is coming in October
The official opening of the "Solos ART.PE" exhibition and the launch of the fair's fourth edition took place on 4 June, at an invitation-only event, also at Shopping Recife. The show, which runs until the 8th, brings together works by eight artists represented by galleries taking part in this edition and, according to the organisers, will serve as a preview of what is to come in October.
According to Diogo Viana, the fair's general director and partner at Archi Cultural, the fair's producer, "ART.PE is a project that seeks to structure and strengthen the contemporary art market from the Northeast, connecting galleries, artists and diverse audiences. The Solos exhibition is a space for listening and exchange with the city".
Design, talks and a bookshop
Among this year's new features is also the "Programa Solos", a design show that will bring together pieces by 15 furniture designers and promote artistic interventions in public spaces around Recife. Beyond the exhibition and the design programme, ART.PE's schedule will include talks with artists and gallerists, a shop with prints and objects from the participating galleries, and a specialised bookshop.
The galleries taking part in the show are:
- Marco Zero
- Arte Plural
- Amparo 60
- Arrecife
- Base
- Número
- Christal
- Garrido
Cultural tourism in Recife
Another highlight of the event will be the promotion of initiatives aimed at cultural tourism, including a map of routes through local museums and galleries, to be distributed to the public, and a selection of restaurants present at the fair, offering gastronomic experiences to visitors.
