Scheduled to take place from 25 to 29 September at Marina da Glória, the Rio de Janeiro Art Fair (ArtRio) is the next big event on the Brazilian market's calendar. First held in 2011, it enters its 14th edition announcing an alignment with the premises of sustainability, with plans for actions aimed at reducing its impact on the environment.

As in recent editions, the fair runs a calendar of activities throughout the year and seeks to foster debate on a range of subjects in the sector. In addition, ArtRio is organised around thematic programmes named Vista, Panorama, Solo, Brasil Contemporâneo, Jardim das Esculturas and Expansão.

The Vista and Expansão programmes, responsible for the selection of the participating galleries, have a Curatorial Committee formed by the gallerists Alexandre Roesler (Galeria Nara Roesler), Antonia Bergamin (Galeria Galatea), Filipe Masini and Eduardo Masini (Galeria Athena), Gustavo Rebello (Gustavo Rebello Arte) and Juliana Cintra (Silvia Cintra + Box 4). The Solo programme, also related to the selection of participating galleries, focuses on projects curated around a single artist. Check out the galleries already confirmed.

The others are special programmes: Brasil Contemporâneo is dedicated to artists from outside the Rio-São Paulo axis and represented by galleries from the North, Northeast, Centre-West and South regions; while Jardim de Esculturas focuses on large three-dimensional works. Finally, the Expansão programme highlights institutions that develop work using art as a means of social inclusion.
