The world's leading specialists in museum storage will gather in Paris, from 29 to 31 October, for an international conference focused on the subject, organised by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) through its International Committee for Architecture and Museum Techniques (ICAMT). Under the theme Museum Storages: Current Situation and New Challenges, the event will build on a recent survey carried out by ICOM on the current situation of museum storage around the world.

As we previously highlighted on the Clé Chenue Blog, the study revealed that 63% of museums in Latin America and the Caribbean do not have adequate storage facilities. The survey was conducted by ICOM's Working Group on Museum Storage, which includes Alessandra Labate Rosso, partner at Clé Chenue do Brasil, who will represent the company at the meeting. The event will take place at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University.

Around 100 speakers from all over the world are confirmed to take part in the plenary and in parallel sessions covering topics such as the current condition and organisation of storage facilities, management solutions, new facilities and the future role of collections in museums. Among the speakers, Brazilian museologist Bruno Brulon Soares is already confirmed.

The programme also includes technical visits, including one to the Chenue warehouse in Le Bourget, a space specialised in the safekeeping of works of art with 24,000 square metres on the outskirts of Paris. The French company, the leading international reference in fine art logistics, is a shareholder in Clé Chenue do Brasil.

For those interested, registrations for the event can be made until 1 October.
