The Brazilian art market ended 2023 in high gear and, according to a special report by Valor Econômico, part of the movement has to do with the interest of people looking to add value to their properties by using works of art as interior decoration, the first step toward the emergence of a collection.
Last year, SP-Arte and SP-Arte Rotas Brasileiras welcomed 40,000 visitors and, according to their founder, Fernanda Feitosa, the galleries taking part in both events had an average sale ticket of around R$ 300,000. In total, the two fairs generated R$ 120 million.
According to the report, this public interest also boosted demand for art advisors, experienced professionals who help new collectors refine their eye, identify works worth acquiring, and at least recognize the materials they are made of (a relevant point when assessing future conservation and restoration needs), among other aspects.
The construction of new buildings, whether commercial or residential, also drives the acquisition of works to be displayed in common areas.
In any case, moving works of art, especially large-scale ones, may require specialized help. Clé Chenue do Brasil has its own fine art logistics team, which can assist with transport, rigging and internal handling, ensuring the integrity of the work or collection. The company currently serves the largest Brazilian museums, throughout the national territory.
