Chico da Silva e a escola do Pirambu
The largest exhibition ever staged on the Ceará-born painter Chico da Silva (1910–1985), awarded an honorable mention at the 1966 Venice Biennale. The show brought together around 148 works and also presented the production of the so-called Escola (or Ateliê) do Pirambu, a group of artists who worked with the painter in the Fortaleza neighborhood of the same name. Originally conceived by the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, it was expanded and adapted in partnership with the Pinacoteca do Ceará.
The logistics operation
The new museum opened in the capital of Ceará relied on Clé Chenue do Brasil's services for the logistics of the exhibition Chico da Silva e a escola do Pirambu, a solo show dedicated to the painter. Originally staged at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, the exhibition ran from July to October 2023. Clé Chenue do Brasil collected the works at the São Paulo museum and handled the entire transport to Fortaleza, as well as the return of the pieces at the end of this season.
About the show
With 148 works, curated by Thierry Freitas and Flávia Muluc, the show was considered the largest ever staged in homage to the artist, born in Acre in the 1910s. The exhibition included rare drawings from the 1940s, large panels and works from the 1960s, including those awarded an honorable mention at the Venice Biennale in 1966.
