Sérvulo Esmeraldo: Linha e Luz

The exhibition

The first major retrospective of the Ceará-born artist Sérvulo Esmeraldo (1929–2017), bringing together around 110 works spanning nearly 60 years of production between Ceará, São Paulo and France. The show traces his trajectory from printmaking and his investigation of line and textures on the two-dimensional plane to the transposition into three-dimensional space, highlighting his importance for Brazilian art. It opened at CCBB Rio de Janeiro (welcoming more than 100,000 visitors) and then traveled to CCBB São Paulo.

Clé Chenue's role

Sérvulo Esmeraldo: Linha e Luz brought together 110 works by the artist from Ceará at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Curated by Marcus de Lontra Costa and Dodora Guimarães Esmeraldo, the artist's widow, the show selected a body of works in a wide range of formats, spread across the whole country.

The logistics operation

Clé Chenue do Brasil was responsible for all the logistics required to stage the show, from condition checks in each location where selected works were held, through the construction of custom-made transport crates, to collection and shipping, initially to the CCBB in Rio de Janeiro. Once the exhibition in Rio de Janeiro ended, Clé Chenue do Brasil carried out all the packing and transport to São Paulo and supervised the installation of the exhibition in the São Paulo venue.

When the show closed, in November 2023, the company was once again in charge of overseeing the deinstallation, the packing of the pieces and the return of each one to its owner.
