Utopia Brasileira – Darcy Ribeiro 100 anos

The exhibition

An exhibition marking the centenary of the birth of the anthropologist, educator and writer Darcy Ribeiro (1922–1997), one of the leading Brazilian intellectuals of the 20th century. Curated by Isa Grinspum Ferraz, a collaborator of Darcy's for more than ten years, the show occupied the 5th floor of Sesc 24 de Maio and proposed a dialogue between original objects and documents from his collection, photographs, works of contemporary art and multimedia devices, including a large audiovisual installation. Among the documents were letters exchanged with Guimarães Rosa and with the anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss, most of them from the Fundação Darcy Ribeiro.

Clé Chenue's role

The exhibition route imagined by curator Isa Grinspum Ferraz proposed a dialogue with the many facets of one of the greatest Brazilian intellectuals of all time. Visitors had access to objects, books and documents from his personal collection, as well as works of contemporary art connected to his trajectory, covering the many strands of the work and personal life of the anthropologist, ethnologist, educator, writer and politician Darcy Ribeiro.

The logistics operation

Handled by Clé Chenue do Brasil, the exhibition's logistics stood out for the large number of documents to be collected at different points across the country. What made the difference in this work was the network of contacts the company maintains throughout Brazil, with condition-report specialists and qualified professionals able to carry out pre-transport inspections in practically every Brazilian state.

Among the objects on display, transported by Clé Chenue do Brasil, was a set of original letters never before shown to the public.
