About the show
The landmark exhibition "Van Gogh's Cypresses" was held at The Met from 22 May to 27 August 2023. It was the first show in art history devoted exclusively to Van Gogh's fascination with the flame-shaped conifers of southern France. It brought together around 40 works, spanning celebrated paintings, detailed drawings and illustrated letters, covering the period from his arrival in Arles in 1888 to his departure from Provence in 1890.
